WHAT: Big Boxes in Our Town
WHEN: Wednesday, November 16 2005 07:00 PM
TICKET PRICE: FREE, RSVP required below

Few people know it, but Hamden was the inspiration for Thornton Wilder's "Our Town," but lately the economic development policy of Hamden has been making it easy for big box stores like Wal-Mart and Home Depot to set up shop and drive out our locally-owned businesses. Add to this the tax breaks which are depleting our town's school system and infrastructure and it's a recipie for disaster. We'll be watching "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price" and discussing how we can make changes in our town to keep it a wonderful place to live *and* keep it condusive to business.
